Samsung LN40B550 Review

Having finally decided to buy a new HDTV a friend suggested Samsung LN40B550 based on reviews from the Internet. I shopped around and checked in my local "box store". Amazon has the lowest price and, although reluctant to buy a TV online, I did anyway. I could not be happier. First a little 'Amazon of the service: I ordered on a Sunday evening and my order was confirmed the next day. Two days later I received a call informing me that the sender would contact me when ready for delivery. This happened the next day. So, I ordered Sunday and had the TV in my house Friday! And, shipping is FREE. The delivery service is brought to the door, it is unpacked, set it on my position and ran through the test is set-up.

Now to the LN40B550 TV. For the price of this set rocks. Color and clarity are great. Menu for setting different color, contrast, brightness features are very easy. The remote has a backlight, which I appreciate. Wish the cable HD receiver had backlight! The sound quality is what I expect from the TV speakers. I'll add a home theater system at times, but for now I found the sound quite acceptable. I am not even close to being a techno fanatic this TV fit the bill for me - easy to set up and a great pic without Füssing.

I do not get the "touch of red" thing. Yes, there is a frame around the bottom of the TV that is a little red in some lighting situations. But, it's almost seen and I'm not sure why Samsung has also produced them in this way. And 'certainly a driving force for this TV.

Again, Samsung LN40B550 is a great series for the price. And Amazon has once again - it's FREE!
